Feelin’ Alright (2024–25)

Title of project: “Feelin’ Alright. I’m Not Feelin’ Too Good Myself” written by Dave Mason, sung by Joe Cocker.

This project of paintings, drawings, printing plates, prints and collages was made between 2024 and 2025.

The paintings and prints were made as individual pieces. Here are some of my thoughts that seem relevant.

The paintings are made from observation of myself in the mirror.

The prints and collages are a response to a reading on scriptural laws pertaining to the treatment of women.

The wooden plate was carved with a 3D printer instead of by hand, and the resulting prints reminds me of cave drawings with spirits and mythic creatures dancing in the darkness around bonfires.

The printing plates indicate reverse thinking before printing the final right reading images.

The persons depicted by the portraits contain within themselves the ideas and concerns implied by the prints. The prints need to be printed in order for us to see them.

For me the project is about Everyman, too many specifics would tell the story of an individual with a name and place in time.
