I’m pleased to announce that my painting installation, A Rogues Gallery, is included in Pulse of the Making at CAA @ Canal Gallery. The opening reception is Thursday, July 20th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Come join us in the celebration!

A Rogues’ Gallery is a lineup of fabricated faces based on my face. They do not resemble me so much as bear witness to me. I am here both in the image created and in the creating of the image.

The individual works making up this installation began as a lockdown project, to draw individual and convincing faces. Life was lonely and I spent a lot of time looking in the mirror.

Not wanting to work from photos, the most accessible and compliant unmasked face I could be in close contact with was my own.

The idea of presenting the faces as a group came after making the individual pieces. There is a bit of the rogue, criminal, thief, fabricator, illusionist, mystifier, instigator, YOU name it, in all of us.

What does a face tell you? What assumptions do we make about people? Is anything fixed/static?

So many aspects of the individual are never acknowledged either by the self or by others.

Here these aspects are pictures. Assembled they make a gallery, A Rogues’ Gallery.

The Cambridge Artist Association had set up a beautiful new gallery inside the recently completed renovation of the Charles River Speedway on Western Avenue in Brighton 

Four of my prints are included in the Print + Works on Paper Program at The Speedway Gallery through January 2022.

The MASSART Auction 2021

I’m excited to participate in the #MassArtAuction this year. My artwork, 'Waterworks 3" woodcut/monoprint, 13" x 20 framed, 2020, Akua ink on Rives lightweight, is up for sale.

The Waterworks series originates from my longing to swim as all the indoor pools closed during the pandemic.

The proceeds from the auction benefit both the artists who have been chosen to participate and students who attend the first publicly funded college of art and design in the country. @bidsquare

2020 MassArt Auction Show

I have a print included in this year’s MassArt Auction. The show will be up from April 15th through the 27th. The actual auction takes place on April 25 in the evening. Location to come. Proceeds from this auction benefit the students of the institution. MassArt is one of the nation’s oldest art schools, the only publicly funded free-standing art school in the United States, and was the first art college in the United States to grant an artistic degree. Besides which it’s a pretty nifty party
